I've been having fun playing around with foam stencils. I bought a pack of large foam sheets and drew shapes on them - circles, free form, lines, etc. Then I cut them out. I mix up my paint and paint it on the stencil and then press it on my painting and roll over it with a roller to really transfer the paint shape. It gives me something to respond to when I get stuck on a painting and I love the depth it gives. You can see through the layers and it brings a sense of richness to the piece. These are some of my stencils I have made:
I'm currently working on a piece that has a lot of layering going on through the use of my stencils. Not sure where it will end up yet but I'm enjoying the process!
This is a crop out of the piece I'm working on, you can see some of the stencil shapes overlaying the paint. I will post the finished piece when it is done.
