I will have two paintings in the October show at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. The title of the show is: "1000 Words: Visual Arts response to Literature Exhibition". This invitational show will feature artists from the Pacific Northwest and will showcase work that responds directly to a piece of literature, specifically a few lines of poetry or prose.
"Pretty How Town", a 12 x 12 mixed media painting on panel, was inspired by a poem written by ee cummings. Specifically by the line - "anyone lived in a pretty how town (with up so floating many bells down)"
"Wheels Whirl", a 18 x 24 mixed media painting on cradled board, was inspired by a line out of a Amy Lowell poem: "I leave the city with speed. Wheels whirl to take me back to my trees and my quietness".
I hope you get a chance to visit this interesting show. It will be up for the month of October with an artist reception on Friday, Oct. 6th, 6-8pm.
